How city should line up vs Burnley

The last time city faced burnley feels like decades ago due to the covid-19 pandemic. On Monday night they face each other again in what promises to be an exciting match up. Let’s take a look at how city should line up for this tie.

In goal Ederson will take up his usual spot between the sticks after showcasing his unique playmaking abilities last time out against Arsenal.

Kyle Walker will reprise his role at right back. At Center back it’s safe to say Eric Garcia won’t be available for this tie on Monday as a result of the concussion he suffered after clashing with Ederson against Arsenal, so I expect Fernandinho to take the vacant spot and pair Laporte. Benjamin Mendy continues at left back.

In midfield Pep will look to make changes to maintain his rotation principle. Rodri is expected to get the nod this time out and he will look to replicate his outstanding performance against burnley last time they faced each other. Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden should start in the free 8 position and both of them will be hoping to pick up where they let off  against Arsenal.

Pep Guardiola confirmed Leroy Sane wants to leave the club this week so I don’t exactly see him being a favorite to start this game. Raheem Sterling finally scored for the first time this year and he will retain his spot on the left side of attack. Bernardo Silva will take the spot directly opposite him in place of Riyad Mahrez. Manchester City’s all time leading goal scorer Sergio Agüero is the man to lead the attack here and add to his impressive record of scoring in every home appearance against burnley across all competitions.
